Wildcat Snow Report

Comments

Folks at the Resort are ecstatic over the 15 inches of fresh snow that has come our way in the last 5 days; which has set up the mountain to be in spectacular shape for the weekend. The snow texture and consistency just doesn’t get any better than this! On Saturday, the blustery weather presented a challenge, but in spite of the strong winds many of our guest commented that “the snow conditions were excellent.” We can expect the wind to calm down dramatically for Sunday; and we are looking at a bluebird day and more great snow conditions!

The Resort was buzzing with excitement with the new snow, the race event on Spillway and the après party in Ptarmigan’s. As over 90 participants, young and old, men and women, boys and girls, friends and family members of all ages and abilities to took part in the U Go Girl Race Series, (which benefits Jen’s Friends) Race 2 on Saturday. Folks enjoyed the social scene with RadioBDC Drafters as their après ski party lived up to their reputation for good times. The weekend fun continues on Sunday with our $39 Big Game ticket. You’ve got plenty of time to ski before the parties start! Enjoy the game tonight and good luck to Bill Belichick’s “just do your job” AFC Champion Patriots as they take on the Pete Carroll’s “pumped and jacked” NFC’s Seahawks for the NFL championship. Let’s put Deflategate behind us and win the big one. So come out to Attitash again on Sunday to enjoy our great conditions; and then get ready to take in the always interesting commercials and hopefully cheer the Pats onto a big victory!

Attitash is scheduled to operate from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with 8 lifts providing access to 300 acres (now including 60+ acres of tree skiing area) and 21.6 miles on 63 trails for skiing & riding. 96% of our terrain is now open. 49 open trails will have been groomed overnight. Conditions will start the day as machine groomed with new packed powder snow; and powder/packed powder/ variable condtions on the ungroomed trails. Conditions do change throughout the day with skier traffic so make sure to stay alert and be safe out there. 14 trails will be left ungroomed so we can enjoy the fresh snow in its natural bumped up condition; including favorites like Grandstand, Upper Ptarmigan, Ammo Pitch, Upper Kachina, Upper Mythmaker; and we have added Lift Line and Quiver to the open/ungroomed list. Lower Ptarmigan is now open and ungroomed as well; accessed from White Horse on the Middle Highway link. Tree skiing areas are also skiing well, but like trails we may open with natural cover and ungroomed, caution is advised as some hidden hazards may exist under newly fallen snow. Come and get after it!

Sunday’s weather forecast calls for sunny skies and cold temps with a high only near 13 degrees, with a northwest wind around 5 to 10 mph. Layer up, cover up, wear a ski mask, stay hydrated, take breaks often and keep an eye on one another for early signs of frost bite. It should be another incredible day out there today. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday at 4 am to Tuesday at 1 am; accumulation of 6 to 10 inches is possible. Thanks again to Mother Nature for this past week’s two storms. Snow Dancing seems to be working as a third significant snow event in less than 7 days looks to be coming our way. Yahoo!

Please note; AAEF Race Training this morning from 8:30 am to 11:00 am on Spillway, which will be closed during this time.
