“It’s all about the smack!” I almost fell off my seat when my fellow Attitash Race League teammate uttered that on the shuttle bus this past Saturday morning. What she was referring to is the smack-talk, all in good fun, which goes on during Race League Tuesdays at the mountain.
For those of you that don’t know Alberta from Adventure Center Guest Services, she’s feeling feisty this year out on the race course after coming out of her one-month retirement from racing. She claimed retirement from the Attitash Race League in November and by the time December came around and Tuckerman Brewing Company was named our beer sponsor, she sparked a new interest and re-joined team Rock-It.
All season long, she’s been keeping secret what time she plans to race and has succeeded in one-upping fellow racers with great times amongst the bottom tier of racers. She’s the intimidator, for sure. She’s even been known to make anonymous calls to fellow employees who participate in the league, stating her best time and then hanging up. Pretty bad-you-know-what.
Week 4 of the Attitash Race League is tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24. We have over 70 participants skiing/riding/telemarking in this 9-week race league held on Spillway every Tuesday throughout the season.
Be on the lookout for Alberta between the gates tomorrow, too. Although we can’t tell you when she’ll be racing, one thing is for sure, we’ll all be in Ptarmigan’s Pub for the après ski party with our friends from Tuckerman Brewing Company. Stop by for a Pale Ale and meet The Intimidator!
